The Polispec range of portable and online spectrophotometers manufactured by ITPhotonics have an industrial design and are available with different ranges of wavelengths selected dependent upon the application.

Principle of operation

Using state of the art diode array technology the principle of operation is based on the interaction of a light source with the molecules and with the chemical bonds that characterize the matrix to be analyzed, thus allowing Polispec to perform both quantitative and qualitative measurements.

Design Philosophy

All Polispec instruments are unique because of the direct relationship between the measurement optics and the spectrograph analysis module, this feature enables us to have a system compact in shape and the robustness required for the industrial environments they are expected to perform in.

Agriculture

ITPhotonics have been engaged in the development of “ready to use” solutions
for the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors since the company’s inception.

We are able to offer Polispec systems to the agricultural sectors for both portable use and installation directly on processing machines and systems, complete with accessories, software and a wide choice of calibration models.

The Polispec line is designed for use in all agricultural processes in which immediate and precise measurements are required for the management of variables and for self-control programs.

The system comes with ergonomic handle, control buttons, WiFi communication,
rechargeable battery. There is also a rugged 10 inch touchscreen tablet PC running the poliDATA software with ready-to-use calibration curves (the curves are subject to an annual license for their use).

Thanks to all this, Polispec NIR is the best portable instrument designed for applications in the field, in farm and where rapid measurements and precise answers are required.

Integrated system on a self propelled mixer wagon

The system, installed on the mixing wagon tub, measures the product
and its mixing status in real time. This enables nutritional control of the ration with the relative recipe. Thanks to the measurement of both the nutritional properties (proteins, fibers and starch) and the physical properties (length of the particles and their distribution), the system is able to alert the operator of the mixing state and to record the measured data in association with the actual weight of the ration (if linked to the weighing system) and the dry matter content available per head.

The Polispec system communicates with the ISO BOX Cabin display sending and processing data for the operator. Using the 3 programs poliTMR, TMR Manager and TMR Sync all the information can be processed for customised and targeted analysis of the feeding process.

Available for installation on self-propelled, trailed and stationary wagons, with the possibility
of connection via the CANbus network to the weighing system. The monitor is installed in the cabin thanks to a docking station vehicle specially designed to allow you to detach the screen and use the system also as a portable instrument.

NIR for Trailed mixer wagon

Polispec NIR for precision feeding in a single configuration for installation on
a trailed mixer wagon. The sensor is installed on the mixing tank where it is able to provide accurate measurements of the nutritional composition of the ration and the homogeneity of cutting and mixing of the nutrients and physical particle composition.

NIR for stationarey mixer wagon

Available for installation on stationary wagons, with the possibility of connection via the CANbus network to the weighbridge. Polispec NIR is installed on the mixing tank where it is able to provide accurate measurements of the nutritional composition of the ration and the homogeneity of cutting and mixing of the nutrients and physical particle composition.

NIR for combine harvester

Polispec NIR can be installed on a combine harvester for precision farming and provides knowledge for the operator to optimise cultivation techniques in order to maximise the quantity and quality of crops.

The Polispec NIR system is installed on the porter of the machine thanks to AGS (Active Grain Sampler), a device capable of continuously sampling the flow of collected product and self-regulating according to the instantaneous flow rate. Connected via ISObus to the virtual terminal of the machine and to the GPS antenna, the Polispec NIR system is able to provide detailed maps on the quality of crops, guaranteeing traceability and providing essential data for the development of a correct agronomic plan.

NIR for forage harvester

Polispec NIR installed on the forage harvester is an innovative system that guarantees constant control of all the harvested product thanks to the integration on the ISObus
network of the machine and the GPS antenna. This allows the system to collect precise data on the quality of the products and map them on the surface of the cultivated areas. This guarantees correct management of agronomic processes. The data collected is useful for the operator with and can be used for the best management of the cultivated areas with respect to their production capacity.

NIR on slurry spreading tanks

Polispec NIR installed on slurry spreading tanks is used for the measurement of nitrogen, phosphate and organic fertilizers. The system consists of a duct for installing the Polispec NIR sensor and is available in two versions.

The first can be installed to carry out analysis during the loading phase, with the
system providing an average of the data measured to correctly set the discharge
volumes for fixed rate spreading. The other application is as an input to the prescription map for variable rate spreading.

The Polispec NIR sensor can be installed with the appropriate pressure duct kit (6 “or 8”
pipes). The system measures and sends data to the processing unit located in the cabin within reach of the operator.

Polispec LITE is a reflection spectrophotometer (also configurable for transmission or contactless applications), the analyser is compact design and equipped with a sophisticated light engine and automatic reference wavelengths to eliminate drift. Available in different spectral configurations between 400 and 1100 nm, i.e. between the end of the visible spectrum and the first part of the near infra-red spectrum.

Polispec LITE has been designed for both portable use and for in-process installation using a range of adapters. The system is particularly suitable for the analysis of macro-elements and designed to operate in a wide range of process conditions,

The casing is made entirely of anodised aluminum, and a large heat sink is located at the front removes the heat generated by the light source. Designed for reflectance analysis, this instrument integrates diffuse/0° acquisition optics and a system of automatic internal references which, when configured for portable mode, can be controlled by two buttons positioned on the body of the instrument itself.

The area framed by the collection optics is extremely large and particularly suitable for the analysis of whole and non-homogeneous products or even products in a dynamic process.

For in-process installation, adapters can be created in different shapes and materials to be able to adapt the Polispec to the process requirements.

The software interface is extremely simple, intuitive and compatible with different calibration suites for users who wish to develop their own chemometric models.

We have created the entire software infrastructure to be user friendly and also to interact with plant PLC systems or CAN protocols. Both the hardware and software configurations of the Polispec instrument range can be adapted for compatibility with different protocols and communication interfaces, so that the integration work is seamless for the user

Polispec VIS-NIT is an extremely robust spectrophotometric sensor, designed to be connected via fibre optics to a variety of measurement probes and light sources. It is available in the spectral ranges between 340 and 1100 nm.

Thanks to its compact design, Polispec VIS-NIT can be easily integrated into any point of a production line. The instrument is equipped with two programmable internal signal modulators to make it more efficient even in processes where the dynamics are changing.

The casing is made of anodised aluminum and is available with different levels of IP protection ratings from liquids and dust ingress..

The software interface was developed to be easily integrated into process systems and with PLC interface modules. The entire system consists of Polispec VIS-NIT and the management software, and can be supplied with different protocols and communication interfaces, so that the integration work is minimal for the customer.

Polispec NIRe was created using the weath of experience and knowledge from other equipment in the range. The system has the same robust and compact design which makes it easy to use both as a portable instrument or for the laboratory, and as a system for installation on real time process plants.

Thanks to its particular diffraction grating and the double chip InGaAs 512 pixels sensor with controlled cooling system, poliSPEC NIRe covers the extraordinary spectral range 930-2180 nm while maintaining all the characteristics of versatility, sensitivity, operating dynamics and cleaning of the signal of the other Polispec systems.
These qualities make Polispec NIRe suitable for analysing very varied matrices, from the most reflective to the most absorbent, without the need to have different versions of the instrument for each application.
